Our Story
Created for Good Works Foundation began with a simple, heartfelt mission: to bring hope and opportunity to underprivileged children in the Philippines. Our journey started in 2018 when our founders, John and Cheryl O’Brien, moved to the Philippines determined to make a difference.
They didn’t know exactly where to begin or how to address the overwhelming need around them, but they knew they couldn’t turn away from the struggling families living right outside their door.
From Small Beginnings to Big Dreams
Like many good stories, ours started small. When the pandemic hit, the economic impact on already vulnerable communities was devastating. Without steady work, many families had no way to put food on the table. John and Cheryl saw this need and began delivering relief goods twice a week, packing each bundle with not just food but also a Bible Verse full of hope and encouragement. This simple act of kindness soon turned into a much larger mission.
While the families appreciated the food, John and Cheryl noticed an even deeper problem: the children in these communities were falling behind in school—or weren’t attending at all. With no access to online learning and no resources for homeschooling, many kids were left with nowhere to turn. Determined to fill this gap, the OBriens went down into the small villages to teach the children basic math and English, as well as Bible study. As the rainy season curtailed their teaching opportunities, they established a tutoring center in a small home purchased nearby. That small center quickly grew into a school, offering a full curriculum through the School of Tomorrow program.
More Than Just Education
At Created for Good Works Foundation, we believe that education is just one piece of the puzzle. These children need more than academic support—they need love, guidance, and a belief that their lives matter. That’s why our programs also focus on life skills, music, and art, and why we emphasize spiritual growth through Bible study and mentorship. Every child is seen and valued here, not just as a student but as a unique individual with endless potential.

Our story wouldn’t be possible without the support of generous donors, volunteers, and partners who believe in our mission. From building new classrooms to sponsoring individual children, each act of kindness brings us closer to our vision: a brighter future for the next generation in the Philippines.
