Life Skills

"True education is a kind of never-ending story—a matter of continual beginnings, of habitual fresh starts, of persistent newness."

– C.S. Lewis

At Created for Good Works we teach practical life skills that are empowering children in the Phillipines to build a better future for themselves and others. Many of the kids in our program come from under-resourced communities where opportunities are limited. We equip them with life skills in our continued aim to break the cycle of poverty and open new doors.

Why Life Skills Matter

Life skills help these children thrive in the real world. These skills boost their confidence, foster creativity, and provide them with self-sufficiency. From sewing and gardening, to art and music, our Life Skills Program nutures talents, develops problem solving abilities, and inspires a sense of self-worth. These children learn so much more than just a new skill - they discover their own potential and power to shape their lives.

A Holistic Approach

Our Life Skills Program is structured to offer a variety of hands-on learning opportunities:

Sewing Classes

Teaching both boys and girls how to sew not only provides them with a practical skill but also instills patience, precision, and the joy of creating something from scratch. Children who master these skills can use them to support their families or even start small businesses in the future.

Gardening

Our gardening lessons go beyond simply planting seeds; they teach children about responsibility, nurturing, and the value of patience and perseverance. Through gardening, kids learn to care for the earth and see the rewards of their hard work.

Arts and Crafts

Expressing creativity is vital for a child’s emotional and cognitive development. Through painting, drawing, and crafting, children learn to express themselves, solve problems, and see the world in new ways.

Cooking and Baking

In our cooking classes, kids learn basic kitchen safety, meal preparation, and the joy of creating nutritious food for them and their families. It’s a skill that serves them for life.

Shaping Independent Thinkers

We want each child who participates in our Life Skills Program to leave with more than just a new hobby. Our goal is to shape independent thinkers and compassionate individuals who are equipped to make positive contributions to their communities. Whether it’s through growing their own vegetables or selling handmade crafts, these skills give children a sense of pride and purpose.
